TourGuid Documentation

Getting started

Create a trip, bring people into it, and build the itinerary together.

TourGuid is built around a trip. Everything else hangs off one: the itinerary, the people, the documents, the conversation.

Create a trip

From Home, choose Create a New Trip. A trip needs a title and a destination; dates and notes are optional and can be filled in later.

The person who creates a trip is its Trip Coordinator. That role controls the trip's core details and its itinerary. Everyone else who joins is a Member, and can see the itinerary and contribute checklist items.

Bring people in

There are two ways, and they suit different situations.

Invite them. From the trip, invite by email address or phone number. It works whether or not the person already uses TourGuid; if they do not, the invitation tells them how to join.

Share the trip code. Every trip has a five-character code. Someone with the code chooses Join a Trip from Home and enters it. That sends a join request for the Coordinator to approve, rather than adding them straight away.

Only invite people who would actually want to hear from you. An invitation carries your name and the trip's details to whoever you send it to.

Build the itinerary

Add activities day by day. Each one can carry a title, a type, a time, a location and comments.

Smart Import is the shortcut worth knowing. Point it at a booking confirmation, a ticket or a photograph of one, and it reads the details out and fills the activity in for you. Check what it produced before saving it: it is doing its best with somebody else's formatting.

Keep the documents with the trip

Attach photographs, PDFs and ticket barcodes to any itinerary entry. Attachments are held in private storage and reached only through short-lived links, so a document is not exposed by being attached.

Tickets & Documents, in the side menu, gathers everything across every trip in one place, which is the view you want at an airport rather than the trip-by-trip one.
